How many to make. Count your guests, then add two or three spares - there's always a last-minute sibling, or a bag that splits on the way out. Order the fillers to match, not the exact headcount.
What to spend. Most parents keep each bag to around £2 to £4. You don't need much: two or three small toys, one treat and a little keepsake beats a bag stuffed with things that are lost by teatime.
