Cutout Size Guide
Cardboard cutouts come in more sizes than people expect, and picking the right one is the difference between a jaw-dropping entrance and a prop that gets lost in the room. This guide shows every size we stock next to a real person, so you know exactly what turns up at the door.
The short version: lifesize cutouts are printed to the star's actual height, minis are roughly half that, and table-top cutouts are made to sit on a surface. Match the size to the space and the job.
Sizes at a glance
- Lifesize cutouts are printed to the person's genuine height, so most adult stars stand between about 150cm and 195cm (5ft to 6ft 5in). This is the size that stops people in their tracks.
- Mini cutouts are around 90cm tall (roughly 3ft), about half height. Great where floor space is tight, or as table centrepieces and party favours.
- Table-top cutouts are smaller again, made to sit on a table, bar or shelf rather than the floor.
- Stand-in and sailboard boards are full lifesize but built as photo backdrops, so they are wider than a single figure.
Which size for the job
Think about where it stands and how far away people see it from. A quick rule of thumb:
- Entrance or dance floor: go lifesize. You want it read from across the room.
- On the buffet or gift table: mini or table-top, so it decorates without blocking the food.
- Photo corner: a lifesize stand-in or backdrop board that everyone can pose with.
- Small flat or office desk: a mini keeps the fun without eating your space.
Every lifesize cutout is die-cut to the figure's outline and only about 4mm thick, so it arrives flat and takes up almost no room until you fold out the strut.
Frequently asked questions
How tall is a lifesize cardboard cutout?
It is printed to the real height of the person, so most land between 150cm and 195cm (5ft to 6ft 5in). Taller sports and film stars sit at the top of that range, and children's characters are shorter.
What is the difference between a mini and a table-top cutout?
A mini is about 90cm tall and still stands on the floor. A table-top is smaller and designed to sit on a surface like a table, bar or windowsill.
Will a cutout fit through my front door?
Yes. Cutouts are only a few millimetres thick and arrive flat, so even a 6ft one slides through any doorway with ease.
